Literacy is The Path to World Peace

A man I greatly admire, his name is Valdimir Horsdal, AKA "Valdy", once said in an interview with Ben Fast, in 2010, "I believe that literacy is the path to world peace, because if we can understand each other, we can get along, and if we can communicate, we can understand each other. So literacy, and literacy skills are part of the infrastructure of that communication".
I believe this is a true statement. I also believe literacy takes many forms. Whether it is writing a short story or a novel, creating a song or painting a picture.
Every sculpture has a story to tell, every poem needs an ear to be heard.
Music can sooth the soul, and a picture speaks a thousand words.
This is communicating and learning about one another, so we can get an understanding of each other. Learning about our neighbor and about our fellow man, woman and child, by the Art they have created, and that part of themselves that they are willing to share.
